Lauren Van Rensburg

An employee of Schimenti Construction for nearly five years, Lauren van Rensburg enjoys being able to stretch her creative skills as the company’s marketing manager. But when Lauren isn’t branding and developing marketing strategies, she’s busy raising her two daughters—and rescuing dogs! An animal lover since childhood, Lauren is involved with “For the Love of Labs Animal Rescue.” She fosters dogs that have been removed from inhumane environments and nurtures them as part of her own family, until they are adopted into their “fur-ever” homes. In the first half of 2015, she’s already fostered eleven dogs!

Lauren is also an active member of her local parish, where she is the art coordinator for its Bible camp program, which serves 200 children. In that role, she plans and coordinates fun crafts that align with the children’s daily religious lesson.

As much as she wants to, though, Lauren hasn’t yet had the opportunity to give back in one area that is very close to her heart, ever since she lost a parent to cancer. A registered donor with “Be the Match,” Lauren looks forward to the chance to save a life by donating bone marrow. “Being able to save someone’s loved one from cancer is the opportunity of a lifetime—literally. I can’t think of a more meaningful and important gift.”

“My philosophy in life is simple,” continues Lauren. “I think everyone should take whatever they’re passionate about and do something good with it. If you’re a talented musician, for instance, find a way to use music to make a positive impact in your community. If more people did that, what a better place our world would be!”
