U.S. Green Building Council - Leed Certified

Starbucks selected Schimenti Construction to remodel and expand their highly anticipated flagship store in Times Square, New York in celebration of their 40th year anniversary. This major project included incorporating two recently acquired adjacent retail spaces into the new store. As one of Starbucks top-performing stores in North America, it was absolutely critical to minimize the time that the existing store was not operational.

Schimenti completed this demanding project in just 15 weeks despite facing many plumbing challenges as the location of many drains were inaccessible and covered by permanent and custom ceiling panels on the lower level cafeteria of the Morgan Stanley building. Correcting the plumbing problems was complex because of the unique ceiling, and numerous parties involved in the approval process, and time to coordinate with the landlord. Ultimately, Schimenti made recommendations and redesigned the layout to make drains accessible, all in accordance with New York City code.

The scope of this LEED certified project was substantial and included the installation of two 25-ton AC units, a 90-inch monitor to integrate social media into the store, two new bathrooms, new ceramic tile, sealed and polished concrete floors through out the store, as well as modifications to the store front. Schimenti worked seamlessly with all trade subcontractors, building landlord, and client team to deliver a truly special flagship store for Starbucks.
