Schimenti Construction partnered with Fitness International to deliver the first Club Studio location in the Northeast. Located in South Windsor, Connecticut, the 44,021-square-foot facility marks a regional milestone for the brand and introduces its elevated fitness model to a new market. The project features state-of-the-art boutique fitness studios for Box, Reformer, CS4, Ride, Stretch, and Sweat+ classes and a medical spa, recovery unit, and juice bar.
Additional work included fully renovating the pool, whirlpool, sauna, and basketball court. A mezzanine-level cardio space was also incorporated into the design, expanding the vertical footprint of the build.
Several challenges emerged throughout the project. Mold was identified in all wet areas and required full removal, while repair work was needed in areas designated to remain. Existing overflow drains were located in key areas and required design revisions. Midway through demolition, a major scope change redirected the basketball court from demolition to renovation. Throughout the build, inspectors conducted both scheduled group visits and unannounced site inspections, which required Schimenti to maintain a high level of preparedness and attention to detail. In addition, Club Studio was undergoing ongoing internal design development, resulting in evolving plans that impacted both coordination and cost.
Schimenti navigated these issues through detailed documentation and consistent communication between project management, operations, and executive leadership. Coordination with the architect, the primary client contact, was key to managing approvals and site decisions throughout construction. Direct client involvement increased during turnover and final walkthroughs.
Schimenti completed the project in just over a year, delivering a comprehensive facility that reflects the Club Studio brand and meets the high standards of its elevated fitness offering.
