Schimenti Construction partnered with Eataly to build the brand’s first location in Pennsylvania at King of Prussia Mall, delivering a 25,811-square-foot space that blends retail and hospitality into one immersive destination. The store features a full-service restaurant, four quick-service counters, an Italian grocery market offering a selection of dry and refrigerated goods, and a wine shop. Additional back-of-house areas support warehousing, kitchen operations, and office space.

The project transformed a former restaurant space into a complex, multi-dimensional culinary marketplace. Schimenti was responsible for delivering the majority of the built environment, including the millwork and stone packages, extensive kitchen equipment, and integrated AV and IT systems, ensuring complete alignment with Eataly’s signature standards of craftsmanship and brand storytelling.

A key component of the project was the creation of an exterior patio dining experience. Schimenti constructed a steel-framed canopy equipped with complete MEP systems to support year-round restaurant seating, necessitating careful coordination and precise installation within the existing mall infrastructure.

Early in the schedule, the team encountered unexpected site conditions when a subterranean parking structure was discovered beneath the slab, impacting the underground plumbing scope. Through early identification and swift collaboration with project stakeholders, the team realigned the timeline without compromising the original 40-week delivery window.

Schimenti coordinated the logistics of overseas-sourced equipment, such as specialty pizza ovens and refrigerated display cases, with meticulous attention to detail. Ongoing communication and adaptability across all trades and partners were essential in bringing this high-profile build to completion on time, supporting Eataly’s expansion into a new market.
