Schimenti Construction partnered with Gap to renovate the brand’s retail location at Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, delivering a refreshed 13,000 SF store on a tight 13-week schedule. The project ran concurrently with the Athleta build at the same mall, continuing a strong working relationship following past collaborations such as the Banana Republic Flagship in SoHo and several others.

The project included a new storefront, updated lighting and finishes throughout the store, digital signage screens, renovated bathrooms, a reconfigured back-of-house storage area, and coordination of owner-provided elements such as millwork and a custom stucco system. With over 70 supplemental sketches issued throughout the process, the project became a design-build. To stay on track, Schimenti coordinated extended workdays and included weekend shifts, closely collaborating with the client team to keep the project moving forward.

Despite the added complexity from multiple redesigns, the team maintained momentum through clear, ongoing communication with the Gap team. The store officially reopened on time, meeting the project’s milestone date and further strengthening a long-standing client relationship.
