It is truly an honor to be awarded the 2022 Award of Merit for Renovation/Restoration for Great Jones Distillery. Completed during the complex environment of COVID-19, this engineering feat took over five years from inception. Due to complex NYC zoning regulations, the building was classified as an M1-5, one of only 120 buildings in Manhattan that conform to alcohol distillation permit requirements, and NYC regulations prohibit stills from being installed above a second floor. This functioning distillery uses 100% New York-sourced grains in its craft whiskeys and serves cuisine featuring locally sourced ingredients.

This year’s ENR judges selected 21 projects in New York and New Jersey in the magazine’s main market categories to reveal the 2022 Regional Best Projects winners. Projects were evaluated on the ability of the project team to overcome challenges, contribution to the industry and community, safety, and construction and design quality. ENR New York selected winners from a large number of entries received; congratulations to the winners.
