Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) has earned an ICSC Global Design & Development Silver Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in marketplace and tenant design. The award celebrates APL’s flagship boutique in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, delivered in partnership with Schimenti, and recognizes the project’s exceptional approach to design, craftsmanship, and brand expression.
The 3,800 SF amphitheater-shaped boutique exemplifies impactful tenant design through its immersive, highly curated environment. Every material and detail was intentionally selected to reinforce APL’s luxury positioning, from clay-based artisan plaster walls and Italian-imported travertine flooring to custom display fixtures fabricated overseas. The vanity rooms serve as a defining design element, featuring rare natural onyx stones sourced to represent each of New York City’s five boroughs, transforming functional spaces into sculptural, storytelling moments within the store.
Beyond its aesthetic impact, the project stands out for the precision and innovation required to execute its complex design. Intricate curves and angles, custom lighting integrated beneath stretch fabric ceilings, and structural constraints demanded a high level of coordination and problem-solving. The result is a flagship environment that elevates tenant design beyond traditional retail, delivering a distinctive, brand-driven experience that aligns seamlessly with APL’s vision and earned recognition from ICSC’s global awards program.
