Schimenti Construction partnered with Swarovski to build a 900 SF boutique in Belmont Park Village, an open-air shopping destination adjacent to the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY. Known for its elegant design, stone-paved streets, and curated mix of luxury labels, the Village offers visitors a unique retail experience with lush landscaping, fine dining options, and a growing selection of high-end boutiques.
The project involved transforming the boutique into a sophisticated retail environment reflecting Swarovski’s iconic brand identity. Key aspects of the build included overcoming logistical challenges such as installing rooftop units (RTUs) on a pitched roof and routing power from the store to the landlord’s electrical room. To address these complexities, Schimenti collaborated with the Belmont Park Safety Team to install additional fall protection for rooftop work and coordinated with electricians and base building teams to feed cables through two underground manholes, ensuring seamless power connectivity.
Communication played a vital role throughout the 10-week project. Weekly OAC (Owner, Architect, Contractor) calls and end-of-week updates kept all stakeholders aligned, including Swarovski representatives based in Italy. This proactive approach enabled the team to address design and logistical challenges promptly and maintain momentum.
Despite the complexities, Schimenti delivered the project ahead of schedule, earning Swarovski the distinction of being the first boutique in the Village to secure a Temporary Approval to Operate (TAO), granting them the ability to open to the public officially.
