Balenciaga, the iconic French luxury fashion house renowned for its avant-garde designs and innovative approach to fashion, has opened its flagship store at American Dream, increasing its footprint in the New Jersey retail market. Schimenti Construction partnered with Balenciaga to bring their vision to life. The store, which spans 10,462 square feet across two levels within the Meadowlands megamall’s luxury wing, offers customers the latest men’s and women’s ready-to-wear collections, shoes, bags, accessories, eyewear, and jewelry.

The Balenciaga flagship store at American Dream is a testament to the brand’s unique retail design concept, known as “raw architecture.” This innovative approach strips the space down to its basic framework, creating a minimalist backdrop that beautifully showcases the brand’s exquisite collections. The store features premium materials and distinctive elements, such as an open ceiling concept with suspended cement board panels, concrete-inspired distressed flooring, and a stunning three-flight feature staircase adorned with custom weathering steel handrails.

The store incorporates hand-painted subway tiles and strategically distressed concrete-inspired flooring to enhance the ambiance and evoke the gritty aesthetic of an underground NYC subway. Schimenti managed all challenges with precision and expertise, installing custom millwork by Buzzoni from Italy and coordinating specialty lighting by Cooledge Lighting with meticulous planning and execution. Despite delays in obtaining the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) due to owner-vendor issues, the team ensured the project stayed on track.

After 24 weeks, Schimenti Construction successfully delivered Balenciaga’s flagship store at American Dream. The project’s seamless execution, from concept to completion, is a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional results for our clients, especially in the luxury retail market.
