Schimenti Construction partnered with Hacienda Golf Club, a private golf club in La Habra Heights, California, to deliver a comprehensive renovation and expansion of its facilities. The project included 13,793 square feet of upgraded multipurpose areas and a 755-square-foot Halfway House. Designed to enhance the member and guest experience, the project addressed operational needs while meeting strict city regulations.
The renovation included several key upgrades, including a new outdoor patio and pergola equipped with lighting, heaters, misting fans, and integrated low-voltage conduits. Trellises were replaced and matched across patios to ensure a cohesive aesthetic, while inside, a central bar was added to provide a welcoming gathering space. The project’s highlight was the complete demolition and ground-up rebuild of the Halfway House, now featuring a full kitchen. A permeable concrete pathway with an underground stormwater system was installed to comply with city mandates, showcasing Schimenti’s commitment to sustainable solutions and regulatory adherence.
The project posed unique challenges, including coordinating construction within a high-end residential area and addressing the city’s residential-focused inspection process. Schimenti collaborated closely with city officials and the client to resolve these issues. Advanced methods, such as deploying a boring robot to create a 6-inch opening through sloped terrain for MEP connections, ensured minimal disruption while integrating new systems seamlessly. The project also overcame unexpected conditions, including a longstanding water leak and buried asphalt, which required mitigation before proceeding with construction.
Managing construction alongside the club’s operations was another significant hurdle. With heavy member activity from Thursday through Sunday, Schimenti carefully scheduled noisy or disruptive work for Mondays when the club was closed. Despite these complexities, the project was delivered in 34 weeks, earning recognition from the club’s management and members for its thoughtful design, premium features, and seamless execution.
