• Schimenti Construction was tasked to turn the 100 plus year old, seven story, landmarked building into retail space. Scope of work included: installing a new elevator, escalators, full gut renovation and incorporating into the sales floor an existing six-story atrium with skylights.
  • Keeping true to the original architecture, custom cast-iron railings were salvaged from the original building, refinished off-site and reinstalled at the escalator lobby. Ceiling details were rebuilt and updated including column capitals and dentil moldings respecting the building’s original design.

  • “This project was part new store construction, part historic rehabilitation. A lot of original cast-iron materials were salvaged, repurposed and retrofitted to work with new building standards and codes. It was definitely not a typical build, but the results were phenomenal.”
