Schimenti Construction partnered with Printemps to deliver the brand’s first U.S. location at One Wall Street. Spanning 55,000 square feet across two floors, the project brings Parisian luxury to the heart of New York’s Financial District, redefining the retail experience within one of the city’s most historic Art Deco buildings.
Designed by interior architect Laura Gonzalez, the store blends heritage and innovation through bold contrasts, layered materials, and a layout that guides visitors through a series of immersive, distinct environments. Sculptural lighting, hand-painted tile, warm wood parquet, and imported stonework bring richness and depth to the space. The landmarked Red Room—with its 33-foot ceilings, preserved mosaics, and freestanding floral sculptures—was carefully transformed to honor the building’s original architecture while supporting the store’s experiential vision.
The Printemps buildout was a 26-month project marked by close coordination, global sourcing, and precision craftsmanship. Preconstruction began in December 2022, followed by an early structural phase. Schimenti turned over the white box in September 2024, with final installation completed in February 2025 ahead of the March public opening. Delivered as a turnkey project, the scope extended well beyond typical construction to include lighting, audiovisual systems, custom furniture, artwork, and high-end finishes—ready for immediate use.
Key elements included a sculptural staircase fabricated in Chicago, GFRG paneling from Toronto, and stone and tile imported from Italy and France. Millwork was sourced from Italy, New York, and New Jersey to create visual continuity throughout both floors. To manage long lead times and complex global logistics, Schimenti implemented early-release packages, closely tracked procurement, and conducted regular vendor coordination calls. Field mockups and staged deliveries ensured quality and minimized rework.
The schedule was tight, with agency inspections landing during New York’s peak holiday season. Schimenti coordinated ten inspections, including FDNY approvals, and secured a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy on the first attempt. Phased sequencing, weekend work, and milestone walkthroughs kept the project moving on track. Custom installations, including the GFRG panels and feature stair, required templating, design-assist coordination, and strong collaboration among trades to bring the design to life without delay.
Printemps at One Wall Street reflects a highly collaborative and detail-driven build executed through clear communication, careful planning, and a shared commitment to excellence.
