Schimenti Construction collaborated with Saint Laurent to deliver its largest New York City boutique, a stunning 13,000-square-foot, two-story retail space in the iconic Meatpacking District. The new location, situated on Gansevoort Street, reflects Saint Laurent’s latest design concepts under the creative vision of Anthony Vaccarello, blending raw and refined materials with timeless elegance. This store marks the third Saint Laurent project completed by Schimenti.
The build required careful attention to detail and premium materials, including imported marble from China and a custom feature staircase crafted in Italy. These elements came together to create a bold yet refined aesthetic, a hallmark of Vaccarello’s design ethos while emphasizing Saint Laurent’s commitment to innovation and luxury retail.
Executing the project presented notable challenges, such as integrating ongoing millwork installations with the broader buildout and coordinating the complex assembly of the Italian-made staircase. Additionally, hoisting large-scale components like glass panels and marble pieces to the second floor through the staircase opening required precision and teamwork. Schimenti addressed these challenges through weekly on-site meetings and close collaboration with the stair vendor to align schedules and workflows seamlessly.
Despite initial delays caused by design revisions and unforeseen site conditions, Schimenti’s team maintained strong communication with Saint Laurent’s representatives, including daily touchpoints during the final two months and weekly progress meetings throughout the project. This collaborative approach ensured Saint Laurent’s vision was brought to life within the 28-week timeline. The result is a flagship boutique that embodies Saint Laurent’s avant-garde sophistication and timeless style, enhancing the brand’s presence in one of New York City’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
