Schimenti Construction partnered with Electric Shuffle to build their third U.S. location and sixth worldwide to NoMad, New York City. This new 10,500-square-foot venue occupies the second floor on the corner of 30th and Broadway, next to the new Virgin Hotel. Electric Shuffle, a London-based company founded in 2019 by Steve Moore and Paul Barham, combines classic shuffleboard with modern technology and interactive elements, offering an exciting bar and restaurant experience. The latest venue, equipped with 13 shuffleboard tables and 2 bars, caters to a capacity of up to 375 people.
The project transformed a second-floor tenant space within an existing hotel, featuring ground-floor access and a feature stair leading up to the venue. Spanning seven months from start to finish, the project involved unique deliverables, including materials and equipment sourced from overseas. Notable items included a pizza oven from Italy, tables from Ireland, and lighting fixtures from England. Despite challenges, the project stayed on schedule.
A significant challenge was the delay in getting power into the space, as coordination with ConEd and the landlord took six months longer than anticipated. Schimenti completed construction using temporary power, working closely with ConEd and the hotel to resolve the issues. The project also required some millwork design changes, but Schimenti swiftly addressed these challenges with close coordination with the design team and millworkers. Onsite installers ensured all locations and access panels were correctly positioned.
Excellent communication with the client contributed significantly to the project’s success. A representative from Electric Shuffle’s London team temporarily moved over for the duration of the project, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration. The partnership between Schimenti Construction and Electric Shuffle ensured a smooth and successful completion of the venue, ready to welcome guests to a unique and engaging experience.
